In 1980, C. D. Haupt built the first power plant on the mill site. In order to meet latest environmental standards, the plant was rebuilt in 1994. After this rebuild the plant meets the actual requirements of the German Federal Law on Emission Control.
Total firing thermal output of the plant is 66,6 MW. Cogeneration is operated with counter pressure with permanent monitoring. In case of any network failure of the power supplier, the paper machine as well as the power plant are isolated from the external network and run as independent operations. Total degree of efficiency is approximately 92%.
Energy:
Demand of electricity per hour: up to 13 MW
Power generation: 9.5 Mw/h
The facility is almost exclusively operated with natural gas. Alternatively, it is possible to run the plant with heavy oil. Furthermore, we permanently add bio gas from our own waste water treatment plant.
