We have to bear in mind that the natural resources of the Earth are not inexhaustible and that we are all requested to save and protect nature. Smurfit Kappa C. D. Haupt Papier is committed to save raw materials at any time. We clarify our effluents with latest technologies in our own biological waste water treatment plant and lead them back to the production circuit. The heat originating from bio-gas is used in the production process. Today, we are in a position to produce up to 75% of the required electricity for our production process on our own.

Smurfit Kappa C. D. Haupt operates a two step purification plant with state-of-the-art technology. The capacity is 12T COD anaerob (IC-reactor) or 5T COD aerob. If possible we to lead the cleaned waters back into our production process. Cleaned waste water is controlled and fed into the river Orpe. 

Our daily production of bio gas is 4,500 m³, which is used after the sulphur removal as fuel at the own power plant.
